Piers are intended to reduce the slopes in the foundation, alleviate structural distress, and prevent future settlement in the area they are installed. After the piers are installed, the slopes in the home should be reduced to the most practical extent possible.
Concrete Pressed Piers
Lifetime Transferable Warranty on all Company Installed Piers
Concrete pressed piers are made of 6″ concrete cylinders that are 12″ in length assembled vertically. Each pier is driven to a depth of load bearing refusal. This means that the pier is driven through the existing problematic soils until the frictional buildup is so great that the structure is lifted and can be supported. The concrete cap is positioned on top of the pier. When the cap is in place, two additional concrete cylinders are seated across the top. This distributes the load over a larger area along the grade beam, greatly reducing grade beam fractures. Metal shims are used for the final adjustment.
Steel Pressed Piers
Lifetime Transferable Warranty on all Company Installed Piers
Steel pressed piers are made of 2 3/8″ & 2 7/8″ steel pipes that are 12″ in length sleeved vertically. Each pier is driven to a depth of load bearing refusal. This means that the pier is driven through the existing problematic soils until the frictional buildup is so great that the structure is lifted and can be supported.
The concrete cap is positioned on top of the welded steel cap. When the cap is in place, two additional concrete cylinders are seated across the top. This distributes the load over a larger area along the grade beam, greatly reducing grade beam fractures. Metal shims are used for the final adjustment.
